Responsibilities and Duties
WHO/WHAT: Short-term role. Long-term warmth. A thoughtful two-mom household in Lawrenceville is preparing to welcome their second baby this summer and is hoping to find a wonderful nanny to help bridge the newborn months until their little one is ready for daycare.
Their bubbly two-year-old attends daycare full-time just a five-minute walk from the house. She loves singing, dancing, and making people laugh — though like many toddlers, she can be a little shy when first meeting someone new. The nanny’s primary focus will be caring for the newborn at home during the workday, with the toddler typically at daycare. This role will last approximately 3-4 months beginning in September. Both moms will have maternity leave at the start, and Grandma will overlap for a period as well, creating a supportive and collaborative transition. The family would also be open to someone starting part-time a bit earlier if helpful.
Your days will center around attentive newborn care — feeding, soothing, naps, and plenty of loving interaction as baby begins discovering the world. During naptime, you’ll help with baby-related tasks like washing bottles, children’s laundry, loading or unloading the dishwasher, and keeping play and kitchen areas tidy. This family would love a nanny who truly enjoys the newborn stage and naturally engages babies through conversation, songs, reading, and developmentally supportive play.
The Ideal Nanny IS…ADAPTABLE. You’re warm, playful, and proactive — the kind of nanny who doesn’t simply supervise children but truly connects with them. You’re reliable, organized, and punctual, and you naturally look for ways to support the rhythm of the home. You enjoy creating calm routines for babies and delight in those early milestones — the first smiles, the first giggles, the quiet moments rocking a little one to sleep.
These parents would especially appreciate someone who values early learning through conversation, singing, reading, and play. Safety is also important to them, and they’ll feel most comfortable with a nanny who shares their thoughtful approach to things like choking hazards and general child safety. Most of all, you bring kindness, patience, and positive energy into the home each day. If you love the newborn stage and are looking for a short-term role with a warm, welcoming family, this could be a wonderful fit.
